I enjoyed staying in this excellentsmall hotel. The room was nicely furnished and reasonably large, offered useful things, such as an electric kettle and a refrigerator. The staff was friendly, excellent, and responded promptly to requests. The location was exceptional - close enough to Germany and the city centre and restaurants. Had supper enjoying drinks at nearby Goldener Ring;))

The room was comfortable & spacious plus the kitchenette with fridge and hob was useful in the hot weather (as was the balcony). Situated in the middle of the old city the hotel is perfect for long weekend stay.
Those who like a hearty breakast with a large selection may be disappointed.

My apartment was roomy, clean, and quiet. This hotel was a more personal experience than staying in a big chain hotel and I found that very satisfying. The breakfasts were excellent, the coffee was great! The manager of the hotel was extremely helpful - a really nice guy! Next time I am in Düsseldorf I will be staying at the El Rancho.
For me there was nothing bad about the hotel. I did have to climb several flights of stairs (there is not lift), but this was not an issue and I expected it because it was the type of hotel I wanted to stay in.

The room on the lower floors was awesome! I loved having a shower, hairdryer, and bathrobes available - such a nice touch. the location was top-notch, right in the heart of the historic area, just a quick stroll from the town square 🏙️.

The host was very welcoming and helpful. The rooms had lots of space, nice furnishings, and an exceptional view. The room was quiet at night despite being above some bars.

The host of the hotel was very helpful and friendly. The price is reasonable, I was even offered a 35 Euro discount for a small inconvenience (non-working water heating appliance that was repaired in a couple of minutes after my call to the reception). Location is great, a quiet place in the old town, near the Rein. Bolkerstasse, a pedestrian street full of pubs and restaurants is just round the corner.
I arrived late in the evening and it took me some time to find the hotel. Probably, location instructions should be more clear - Burgplatz, Bolkerstrasse corner.

Hotel's location is perfect if you are going to spend most of your time in old city (Altstadt).
The bar on the first floor is too noisy on weekends (perhaps it's not a problem if you stay in a room on upper floors).

The service and the location were excellent. The accommodations were great for a weekend city trip. A basic three star hotel, nothing extravaggant, but just what you need as a home base on your travels.

I chose to visit the Kaiser-Wilhelm-Denkmal and the Apartment-Hotel Am Rathaus was conveniently located for that. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the concierge service at the property, which made my stay even more enjoyable. The Rhine promenade in the direct vicinity was also a delightful feature, inviting me to take a relaxing walk along the river and enjoy the wide range of restaurants, bars, and cafes.
My neighbor was really noisy late at night, and I didn't feel secure staying near people with such disruptive behavior. Additionally, I discovered badly contaminated bed covers and blankets on the floor and stains all over the stairs, giving off a horrible smell.

El Rancho is right in the action in Altstadt. Our room overlooked Marktplatz and the town hall. Lovely area. The room itself had stairs only access but was a mini apartment with kitchenette and tons of storage. The bathroom was pokey but ok and overall, while not designer, or posh it represented great value and was lovely for a getaway. Typically delicious german breakfast spread.
Some of the rooms below ours were Smoking and on mornings we awoke to the smell of cigarette smoke. The bathroom extractor didn't work. The location can be a little noisy at night. Roadsweepers at 4am and then roadworks at 7am. Plenty of the local knock-out brew solves that problem though.
